Brazil Specialty Coffee From Minas Gerais

Brazil is known for producing some of the most dependable and approachable specialty coffee in the world, and this lot from Minas Gerais is exactly why. Grown by members of the Cooxupé cooperative, this single-origin Brazil coffee is the product of generations of coffee farming paired with a deep commitment to sustainability, quality, and long-term support for farmers.

Cooxupé works with more than 13,000 coffee producers across Brazil and backs them with one of the most hands-on agricultural support systems in the country. Their team of agronomists, technicians, and field specialists works directly with farmers throughout the entire coffee-growing process — from preparing the soil and planting to harvesting and post-harvest processing. The cooperative places a strong emphasis on regenerative and sustainable farming practices that help preserve both the quality of the coffee and the future of the land.

What makes this partnership stand out is how intentionally Cooxupé invests back into its growers. Farmers receive technical support, quality incentives, transportation assistance, storage benefits, and annual profit-sharing returns based on their participation in the cooperative. It is a system built around long-term relationships instead of short-term transactions, and that kind of stability creates better coffee from the ground up.

This naturally processed Brazil coffee delivers everything people love about a classic Brazilian profile. Smooth and balanced with low acidity, it carries rich notes of caramel, milk chocolate, and roasted nuts with a sweetness that makes it incredibly easy to drink. It is comforting without being boring and refined without trying to show off.

At Redemption Road Coffee, we believe specialty coffee should taste incredible without requiring a vocabulary lesson to enjoy it. That is why we source coffees like this one — approachable, reliable, expertly roasted, and built for everyday life. Whether you are heading into the office, opening the shop early, or sitting at your kitchen table before the rest of the house wakes up, this is the kind of coffee that simply delivers.

No hype. No snobbery. Just exceptional Brazil specialty coffee roasted the way coffee should be.

Brazil Coffee

I subscribe to the whole beans. It is a great cup of freshly ground coffee every morning.

Disappointed

Presentation (packaging) is nice, and I appreciate that you included a very nice measuring spoon. And I do appreciate your ministry around the world!
The coffee itself is not what I expected. The beans are a very light color, and smell “grassy”. I don’t know how else to describe it; kind of like from a pasture and not a tree.
It doesn’t taste like coffee. There isn’t any bad aftertaste, but the flavor itself doesn’t say “coffee”. I lived in Brazil for 16 years, and don’t remember any coffee tasting like this.
I’m used to medium roast coffee, so the “strength” isn’t the issue. I have experimented with different amounts and grades of grinding, and it’s not helping.
I usually drink my coffee black, but with this I’ve been adding a bit of cream to improve the taste.
I will use the whole 1# package since the cost feels like a waste if I don’t. I’ll probably get another coffee that I’m familiar with and make a “blend” with this.
Sorry, I really want to love this. I probably should have tried a different one from your selection, or chosen a variety pack.

Hi Karen,

Thank you for taking time to try our coffee and share your feedback on it — and for your encouragement around our ministry and packaging.

As far as your feedback on the coffee, we have found our Brazilian beans shine best as a lighter roast, which brings out more herbal, grassy notes rather than the deeper profile of a medium roast, so we intentionally roast them lighter.

We absolutely understand that everyones tastes preferences are different, as coffee has a beautiful way of making imprints in our memories tied to special times in our life (Im sure you have so many good memories of drinking coffee in Brazil!) and can effect how we interpret coffee taste.

We’re grateful you gave it a try, and we’d love to help you find something in our lineup that feels more familiar to you next time, something that can remind you of those good times in Brazil! Please email me at info@rrc.coffee or give me a call at 720-745-0158 and I can help you look at all the different roasts we offer.
