Papua New Guinea Specialty Coffee From the Eastern Highlands

Papua New Guinea coffee is one of the most unique and underrated origins in specialty coffee. Grown high in the mountains of the Eastern Highlands near Goroka, this single-origin Papua New Guinea coffee is produced by smallholder farmers who still rely on traditional farming methods passed down through generations. Most growers use no synthetic fertilizers or chemical pesticides. Instead, coffee trees are naturally nourished by mountain rainfall, leaf-fall from shade trees, and nutrient-rich compost created from the coffee cherry itself.

That matters because great coffee starts long before roasting. It starts with people who care about the land, the harvest, and the process.

Our Papua New Guinea coffee comes through New Guinea Highlands Coffee Exports, a group deeply invested in the future of coffee farming across Papua New Guinea. Their team represents more than 20 tribes and language groups, all working together to support smallholder coffee communities through sustainability programs, agricultural training, and long-term farmer partnerships. They operate advanced coffee mills while still preserving the craftsmanship and integrity that make Papua New Guinea specialty coffee so distinctive.

In the cup, this coffee is balanced, approachable, and deeply satisfying. Bright citric acidity gives it a clean structure while notes of purple grape and cacao bring depth and sweetness. A creamy medium body and lingering finish make this the kind of coffee you can drink every day without getting bored of it.

At Redemption Road Coffee, we are not interested in turning coffee into a chemistry experiment or a personality contest. We roast specialty coffee for normal people who just want an exceptional cup they can count on every morning. No snobbery. No overcomplicated tasting rituals. Just carefully sourced, expertly roasted coffee that tastes incredible and shows up consistently.

Whether you are brewing this Papua New Guinea coffee before work, sharing it around the kitchen table, or pouring another cup halfway through a long day, our goal is simple: deliver world-class specialty coffee that feels approachable, dependable, and worth coming back to.

Because good coffee should do good — and it should taste great too.

Today's cup was a Papua New Guinea coffee, and it did not disappoint.

It has a wonderfully smooth, balanced flavor with very little bitterness. I noticed subtle notes of chocolate and a hint of fruit, giving it just enough complexity without being overpowering. The finish is clean and mellow, making it an easy coffee to enjoy black or with just a splash of cream.

If you like a medium-bodied coffee that's rich, smooth, and easy to drink, Papua New Guinea is definitely worth trying.

This one is now a regular in my coffee rotation.

Love Papua New Guinea!

We have finally found a fit for our office coffee needs! The dark roast is a shiney oily bean and the taste is dark, but smooth. Thank you!

Papua New Guinea a WINNER

I've been brewing Sumatra since the early beginnings of Redemption Road Coffee. Went into a panic when I saw the email that Sumatra would be discontinued and replaced with Papua New Guinea. This new coffee is amazing. A dark bold roast that tastes like coffee should. You hit a Grand Slam with this one Redemption Road.

Delicious! Still has its oil on it to show how fresh it is.
