Estes Park, Colorado, is one of my favorite places. Every summer, my family heads to the YMCA of the Rockies, looking for cooler air and a slower pace.
Last summer, I was browsing at the Estes Park Farmer’s Market when I met Aaron from Redemption Road Coffee. Not only did I fall head over heels for his cold brew—I was captivated by Aaron’s story and the mission behind his coffee company.
Redemption Road Coffee is a small coffee roasting company that partners with family farms around the world to create delicious, fair trade, single-origin brews for your morning cup. Aaron is passionate about sharing his farming partners’ talents and stories, because he believes in supporting real people and investing in their livelihoods. When it comes to flavor this coffee does not disappoint. At our markets it is a top seller! We love that we can support the growing trend of speciality coffee in Malawi. Here's a little about their coffee story.
Nestled into southern central Africa, the Republic of Malawi forms a landlocked strip of a plateau surrounded by Zambia, Mozambique and Tanzania. It is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa with over 13 million people living in only 118,000 square kilometers, of which 20% is water. Coffee was introduced to Malawi in the late 1800's by the British and peaked in production at about 70,000 bags during the 1990's. Flowering happens from December to February, and a May to September harvest follows. Generally all coffees are washed, dried on raised beds, and exported in 60 kg jute bags.View full product details

Sumatra is our darkest roast. What I love most about this lot of coffee is the people we are able to support when we purchase it.
Here is their story:
This lot comes from the female members of the cooperative Kopi Wanita, which is a part of a larger grower group called Koptan Gayo Maegan Berseri. Kopi Wanita is a Fairtrade-certified group which grows organic coffee in the Jagong District of Aceh, Sumatra.
Almost 40 percent of Kopi Wanita's members are female, many of them widowed or raising children alone as single parents. Agriculture is the primary source of income for most people in the area, and it is especially difficult for single mothers to tend to both crops and children, in addition to households and community obligations. The co-op hopes that by separating and marketing the women's coffee they will be able to return the profits to training programs for the female members, including farm training and education in other skills that will help them earn a sustainable living

Redemption Road Coffee is proud to partner with Sean Warner to bring you Honduran coffee from Finca Los Cerrato. Sean and his wife moved to Honduras to partner with a local church to help send kids to school. In an effort to support their lives as missionaries, Sean began to work to connect coffee producers to roasters interested in excellent Honduran coffee. In partnership with Honduras Coffee Alliance, Sean was able to connect RRC to the sweet and delicious coffee of Carlos Cerrato.
Carlos, worked for many years as a salesman travelling all over Honduras. After meeting producers in northern Honduras, he started talking with several friends from his hometown, Santa Lucia (5,000, ft), about the idea of producing coffee. Exhausted by constant travel, he and his colleagues began to save and work towards their vision. In 2012, Cooperative Portal El Eden started with 9 producers purchasing about 5 Acres.
Carlos has come to love the entire process of cultivating coffee. He says his favorite time of year is just after the first rains when the farm becomes bright green and he works to ensure a farm full of healthy coffee trees by applying natural fertilizers. Carlos is working towards growing his farm and continuing to improve the quality of his coffee. He is starting to plant other varieties of coffee and is very excited to grow a coffee farm known for quality.View full product details

This coffee comes from the ASDECAFE co-op and is a women's producer lot. This means that the majority of this coffee is produced by single moms and widows, who often have a hard time providing for their families. A lot of the profits of this coffee go right back into women's agricultural education. I love that we can support these kind of programs and make their coffee's shine!
The Guatemalan Republic is one of the Central American countries with a long tradition in producing high quality coffee. Its microclimates, lush nature and topography allow it to produce exquisite coffees, often considered among the best in the world.
The Sustainable Coffee Association of Guatemala (ASDECAFE), is organized with the objective of making washed Arabica coffees of excellent quality from the Huehuetenango and El Quiche regions available to the international market. Among its partners are groups of producers who are members of various associations and cooperatives, with the future potential of including private plantations and family groups.
The concept of “sustainability” for ASDECAFE is based on a strong commitment to the protection of the environment, equal distribution of the generated profits, business transparency, and a desire to develop quality long-term relationships with clients and suppliers. ASDECAFE contributes to the local and national economy by generating employment, foreign exchange earnings and fiscal responsibility.
ASDECAFE currently has Fair Trade, organic, and Nespresso certifications. Its total production is 30,000 bags of exported coffee, which are distributed among the local and international markets.View full product details

Our Brazil coffee is sourced from a traditional coffee farm run by the Paiva family in the Minas Gerais region. The original family farm, built in 1840, pioneered much of the quality coffee production in Brazil. Homera Paiva, a nephew to the original coffee farmer has recently won the Cup of Excellence for planting outstanding coffee varieties and his innovative post-harvesting process.
The Paiva farms are dedicated to the planting of native trees and water preservation. When you purchase our Brazil coffee, you are supporting a family legacy of natural and responsible coffee farming.

Decaf? Who drinks decaf? We do! This is part of my wife and I's story. There are many nights that Jess and I will be sitting on the couch together and she will look over to me with a sparkle in her eye and say, "Will you make me some decaf?" So I get up and make a french press of decaf Colombia, and we sit together cuddling up to the warm cups of Joe engrossed together in the story playing out before us on the tube. If it has been a hard week we will spend the evening drinking our coffee and decompressing. Its amazing to me the role coffee plays in these encounters. If it wasn't present it would feel like something was missing, it would feel incomplete.
It is definitely the best cup of decaf Jess and I have ever had and it is perfect for winding down at night. If you add a little cream it makes the Chocolate caramel flavors really shine. Jess and I have come to love our decaf night coffee together.
